Ije Onejeme was appointed to the Board of First Insurance Brokers in July 2025, as a Non-Executive Director. Ije N. Onejeme is a seasoned business leader and legal expert with over three decades of experience in corporate governance, risk management, and strategic leadership. She brings a wealth of expertise in guiding both listed and non-listed entities through complex regulatory landscapes, with a particular focus on driving corporate excellence and sustainable growth. 

Ms. Onejeme currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at FMDQ Depository Limited, where she chairs the Risk and Audit Committee. Her previous board experience includes a significant tenure at Tangerine General Insurance, where she chaired the Remuneration, Establishment, Governance, and General-Purpose Committee. Her board-level contributions are characterized by a deep commitment to ESG principles, succession planning, and robust internal controls.

Beyond her board roles, Ije is the Founder and CEO of Veranda Energy Nigeria Limited. Her diverse professional background spans international jurisdictions, including serving as Corporate Secretary and Legal Counsel for ERHC Energy in Houston, Texas, and practicing law for over a decade in California. She also held senior leadership roles at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), where she oversaw complex contract management and legal regulatory frameworks for large-scale energy projects.

Ije holds an LL.M. in Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Law from the University of Houston and is a graduate of the Nigerian Law School and the University of Nigeria. She is a recipient of the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma (Level 7) and is a member of the Nigerian, California, and Washington D.C. Bar Associations. An advocate for social impact, she also serves on the boards of NGOs focused on poverty alleviation and gender equality.
